- שִׁלְיָא, שִׁי׳III, שִׁלְיָה, שִׁי׳ f. (b. h.; שָׁלָה II; cmp. preced.) after-birth, placenta. Nidd.III, 4 (Ar., everywhere, שליה; Y. ed. שילייא, שיליא). Tosef. ib. IV, 9; Nidd.26a. Lev. R. s. 35 נוח לו שנהפכה שִׁלְיָתוֹוכ׳ it would have been better for him, had the after-birth in which he lay been turned over his face; Y.Ber.I, 3b שיליתו; Ab. dR. N. ch.
